It happens so quick and without any warning and so unexpected. On Tuesday morning, August 14, I open my blogger.com account to write a piece on Religion and Adversity (I wrote a series of religious related stuff lately). When logged into blogger.com, I was so shock to find that none of my actively updated blogs appeared in the dashboard. I thought it was a nasty work of nasty hacker. It’s not, it turns out.
It’s blogger.com guys themselves that deleted all my blogs. The reason was my blogs have violated blogger.com TOS (terms of service) and content TOS. I explained to them that afsyuhud.blogspot.com has earned repute internationally and because of that blog original and unique content that I become one of honorable member as contributor in globalvoicesonline.org of USA and agoravox.com of France. But the Blogger Employee said nothing further.
I’m disappointed to the hill. I feel I have supported blogger.com cause in Indonesia. I even gave blogger tutorial in bahasa Indonesia at kolom-mario.blogspot.com specifically giving tutorial about blogger/blogspot technicalities. But what I got in return from blogspot? Deleting all my blogs?
I knew from the very beginning, that using free blog providers including blogger.com put us at the mercy of the providers; they can delete your blogs whenever they want and without necessarily any significant reasons. That’s said, I have a confident to Google & its founders which acquired blogger/blogspot. That’s why I urge all Indonesian to use blogger/blogspot instead of other free providers. This incident perpetrated by Blogger/Blogspot team to my blog has changed my perspective towards Bloggger/Blogspot and indeed towards all free providers.
I consider to make my own hosting sooner or later. Writing here in wordpress.com certainly not forever. Experience tells me, wordpress.com can also erase this blog whenever they want. Sooner or later, tomorrow or next month will not make any difference.

Awal mula saya juga ngeblog di blogger, saya punya sekitar 4 blog. Cuma akhir-akhir ini melihat perkembangan yang kurang positif dari blogger saya memutuskan ngeblog dengan hosting sendiri. Itu juga gratis semua kok, domain saya dapat waktu itu dari register.net.id, hosting saya pakai freehostia yang gratis, software blog pake WordPress yang gratis pula. Jadi menurut saya ng blog masih murah dan mudah kok.

@snydez: hehe betul snydez. mgkn ini jalan saya punya hosting sendiri. sebenarnya, dah lama temen2 nyuruh, ngasih saran spy saya sebaiknya pake host sendiri.
Pertimbangan terbesar yg menahan saya unt beli hosting sendiri adalah krn saya ingin memotivasi temen2 blogger baru terutama yg berbiaya pas2an agar mrk berkesimpulan, “ngeblog itu mudah kok. tanpa biaya. tiga kali klik dah jadi. lihat tuh Fatih.” Gitu. 🙂
Setelah impor file komplit nanti ke http://www.fatihsyuhud.com blog di sini akan tetap saya pakai juga. mgkn buat tutorial saja.

I haven’t visit you blog for a long time, just read it through feed reader, but as far as I remember your blog is full of links (references, back-links, etc can’t remember clearly) that makes your blog pages full, kinda a bloated I say.
Maybe they (blogger guys) thought that it’s spam, or someone who trying to fool the search engine crawlers by putting a lots of keyword.

Kuncinya adalah beli hosting khusus untuk WP. (Mungkin) hanya itu jalan keluarnya. Btw, kalau beli via Upgrade-nya WordPress, harusnya masih bisa masuk BOTD.
Karena kalau sudah up-grade, pasang adsense sekalipun bisa. Lalu, seharusnya kita tidak perlu lagi mengkhawatirkan masalah konten lagi.
Apabila berat soal biaya, sebaiknya komentar – komentar junk mulai hari ini dihilangkan. Salah satu caranya adalah dengan mengharuskan setiap komentator untuk login ke WP. Hal ini dapat menurunkan beban loading sebuah page, karena komentatornya jelas tidak akan banyak. 😀

Dari apa yang saya lihat sih, WP lebih ‘pemaaf’ soal pelanggaran TOS (ini untuk yang jelas2 melanggar lho ya). Kalo kita minta maaf dan bersedia menghapus konten yang melanggar TOS, admin WP gak akan keberatan untuk mengembalikan blog kita. Dan AFAIK (setelah baca2 TOS-nya WP), sebuah blog gak akan disuspend hanya karena menjadi terlalu ‘rame’, atau karena pengunjungnya banyak yang non-member.

Saya punya posting di blog saya yang komennya terus bertambah paling tidak 2 komentar setiap hari, Namun banyak yang masuk akismet karena tema postingnya nyerempet xxx, jadi komennya banyak yang terpaksa aku tangkep dengan filter, karena alasan bahasa yang terlalu fulgar.
Dan sebetulnya posting tersebut juga diminati oleh pengunjung non WP.
Saya H2C juga takut gara-gara posting ini semua blog saya di WP kena masalah.

Dengan segala hormat dan kerendahan hati… Kang Luthfi, blog saya di KafeMotor dalam masa-masa H2C soal beban traffic dan juga mungkin volume konten… Sebagai contoh, kemaren ada kawan yg mengingatkan saya soal ini setelah menghitung volume salah satu thread. Thread tersebut kalo di-save tanpa gambar sekalipun udah mencapai 1 M. Komen memang udah lumayan, (meski harus diakui byk junk-nya). Pertanyaannya, dalam kasus seperti ini:
1) bisa ga kita disuspend justru karena adanya thread yg terlalu banyak posting komennya?
2) terus-terang, KafeMotor tidak seperti blog lain yg menarik bagi blogger2 lain ke dalam komunitas WP. Blog ini justru diminati oleh warga non WP alias tidak terdaftar. Artinya beban traffic maupun volume konten tidak punya kontribusi langsung bagi penggelembungan warga WP yg justru menjadi “ambisi” terselubung persaingan penyedia layanan blog saat ini… (CMIIW), so apakah ini juga akan jadi faktor rentan bagi KafeMotor?
3) apakah ada yg bisa dan harus dilakukan untuk mencegah terjadinya misinterpretasi TOS baik oleh kita (blogger pengguna layanan WP) maupun oleh Matt cs di WP? Maksudnya, untuk wilayah abu-abu seperti yg saya maksud pada 2 poin sebelumnya?

It’s a good move! I had the same terrible experience. 3 of my blogspot blog disappeared without any prior information from blogger. I know your awesome online presence since I started my first experience on my blogging land. Your tutorial blog is the most inspiring hints I ever had. Now I’m starting my new wodpress blog at http://www.detiksmart.com while waiting for blogger response for my activation request. I hope my one and only personal blog http://www.indosmart.blogspot.com won’t be deleted by blogger. Keep writing mas Fatih! I’m your loyal reader… 🙂

i think WordPress is more human and friendly. Moreover, in WP we, fortunately, can import all the data of our posting and configuration plus comments in .xml file. This way is a great thing, as a back-up and as a good will from Matt when we decide to migrate to others provider.

Aku ikut milis, email dr milis kufilter dan ku fwd ke blog. Setahuku, max posting scr normal di blogspot adalah 50 posting (sehari), lebih dr itu, harus ngisi captcha.
Nah, mungkin krn ini dianggap sbg spam konten oleh blogger.
Jd karena kesalahan satu blog saja (ntah yg mana), maka smua blog yg ada di dasboard hilang.

Kemarin dulu, blog2ku didelete smua ama blogger, gak tau alasannya apa. Pokoknya gak ada pemberitahuan dari blogger.
Tiba2 aja blog2ku hilang dr list di dashboardku … kupikir masih dlm review pihak blogger. Ternyata langsung didelete.
Akhirnya, karena url lama masih bisa dipakai (available), aku akuisisi lagi subdomain2 itu …. namun sayang … url2 itu juga dihapus dr index search engine-nya gugel.
Hmm, kupikir url-nya om fatih diakuisisi ama orang lain. Ternyata ditahan sama pihak blogger ya?

Ah, yes. The Owner is the God of that free Hosting Blog, So it’s better if you’ re willing to ‘rent’ for hosting.
Meanwhile, I think that the blogger guy is very arrogant, then. WordPress is better, Matt is nice. Even if I do the same (f.e : Abuse the TOS), they will delete my blog, of course. 😀
